Ambassador Nicolae Chirtoaca visits North Carolina.

In period March 23 – 25, 2007 Mr. Nicolae Chirtoaca, Ambassador to the United States of America, made a working visit to North Carolina. The working agenda begun with the meeting of the Moldovan diplomat and Mrs. Elaine Marshall, State Secretary of North Carolina, which took place in the capital of the state, Raleigh. During the meeting subjects such as development of the bilateral collaboration within the Partnership for Peace between Republic of Moldova and North Carolina in the economic, cultural, scientific spheres, academic exchanges, health protection, providing of humanitarian assistance were discussed. The head of the Moldovan diplomatic mission shared with the Secretary of State the recent evolutions in the Moldovan – American relations, underlining the existence of new opportunities to deepen the commercial - economic relations, of the investment of American capital in the national economy as Moldova has qualified for the total financial assistance within the Program of the Millennium Challenge Account Corporation.

At the meeting with the representatives of the administrative and political institutions of North Carolina, as well as of the academic and university entourage, Ambassador Chirtoaca held a speech in which he mentioned the efforts of Moldovan state to consolidate the democratic reforms, to integrate in the multilateral European organizations, to solve the commercial – economic problems which appeared during year 2006, also to reestablish the territorial integrity of the state through solving of the transnistrian conflict and the non conditional evacuation of foreign troops from the national territory. This event was attended by chiefs of congressmen’s and senator's offices to the US Congress, representatives of the state executive branch, the National Guard Commander and the consular corps accredited in Raleigh.

During this visit took place the meeting with the Moldovan community from the given region of the United States of America. The event took place in Hickory and was organized with the support of Mr. Florin Pindic Blaj, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova to North Carolina. Ambassador Nicolae Chirtoaca informed the public about the evolution of the political, economic, social, cultural live of the Republic of Moldova, he also asked the Moldovan nationals to continue their involvement in promoting the positive image of Moldova in the USA, as well answered the multiple questions addressed by the Moldovan citizens established in the State of North Carolina.
