Dear Sirs and Madams,

Welcome to the Internet page of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Moldova to Washington D.C. which is accredited for the USA, Canada and Mexico. I hope that the information that you will find on our web-page will be useful and accessible. For your convenience and to efficiently inform the public, the instructions regarding the consular functions are periodically updated in order to corresponds to the amendments of national and international legislation.

According to the normative acts of Moldova and the international treaties that our state is a part of, the main role of the consular service is to protect in the states of residence the interests of Moldovan and its citizens, individuals or companies, within the limits accepted by the international law. At the same time, the consular service has the competence to execute consular functions like issuing identity documents from the National System of Passports, including the name and photo of children in the passports, executing notary acts, registering the vital records acts, repatriating citizens of Moldova, issuing visas, legalizing documents, issuing certificates, requesting documents from the Republic of Moldova or the state of residence, registering for the consular evidence, examining requestsof obtaining or renouncing citizenship and requests of establishing with permanent residence abroad, monitoring the post-adoptive situation of the children adopted from Moldova and more.

We encourage you to access the consular links that you are interested in and we also kindly ask you to contact us if you shall need any additional information. The last changes in the Moldovan legislation regarding the consular services are mentioned in the “Consular News” section.

Also, MFAEI has launched a Call Center devised to provide the necessary consular information to Moldovan nationals seeking assistance, including consular services, while being abroad. The Center will provide competent and quick answers to any consular-related question. While not being able to solve a problem directly, the operators at the center will provide the necessary assistance to find the best solution. In special cases, the operators will forward the call to an officer of the Consular Affairs Department.

The call center is working from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 17:00 (UTC+2).

National calls at 0 800 90990 are free of charge from landlines.

International calls at +373 22 690990 are charged at the standard rates of the relevant country.Inquiries are also accepted by email at callcenter@mfa.md .
